MEP Coordination
Clash detection in MEP design: why start at the design stage?
Conflicts between systems - pipes running through ducts, equipment overlapping ceiling zones - are usually only caught mid-construction without a BIM model. This article explains how clash detection on the model saves time and money.

Early clash detection lets the design team make decisions while technical options are still flexible.
Start with a coordinated model.
A federated model lets disciplines see the technical space before documents are issued. Intersections can be recorded consistently so the team can prioritise the right decisions.
Model-based discussions make ownership, alternatives and drawing updates clear for everyone involved.
Reduce changes during construction.
Resolving a conflict during design is usually far less disruptive than resolving it after installation. Regular review also keeps changes visible across disciplines.
